NMCI Sailing Club - October 2009

The N.M.C.I. Sailing Club is back up and running and we have come out fighting after 3 very successful training sessions over the last two weeks. Two teams have been selected and we are ready for our debut event of the 2009/10 IUSA Team Racing League. With six sailors on each team, the twelve members of the club will be representing the Maritime College at the Eastern Varsity event hosted by UCD Sailing Club this coming weekend and will be competing against old rivals such as U.C.C. and N.U.I. Galway but to name a few.

The repair of the clubs boats is also well underway with thanks to great support from our members.

New members are always welcome to join the N.M.C.I. sailing club and we greatly appreciate anyone with previous sailing experience.
For those without previous experience the club is focusing on building on a training scheme based on lectures on the principals of basic sailing skills for beginners to developing racing tactics for our advanced members. Our Club’s goal is to develop skill of its members that is necessary to compete at the top level of competitive sailing.
