2004/2005
The NMCI Campus XV played their first match in February 2005 in Crosshaven RFC against a very experienced Cork Institute of Technology XV. At half-time Bishopstown led by just five tries to three. NMCI made a lot of changes for the second half to give the full squad a run out. Fitness told in the end and CIT, Bishopstown ran out deserving winners. The inaugural NMCI Rugby team is pictured here.
The team also played a second match against the same CIT XV just weeks later but again were beaten as fitness told in the end. To wrap up the season the NMCI hosted Trinity College, a touring American side and beat them in a very tight game, 32-28. What was satisfying about this game was that Trinity College were a well prepared and well drilled side and after only a few months together to put on such a good performance was a fitting way to end the first season.
