Port Sector Training
Port of Cork in Partnership with NMCI
The Port of Cork (POC) and the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) have signed a strategic partnership alliance focused on delivering a suite of courses specifically aimed at the port sector. Cork is the first port in Ireland to offer such training programmes, pushing the Port of Cork to the forefront of industry training.
Drawing upon the expertise of both port professionals and college lecturing staff, the partnership will deliver much needed training to the industry through the use of modern simulation equipment, port facilities and the state of the art instruction environment of the NMCI.

Container Gantry Crane Operation

Mobile Dockside Crane Operation
5-Day Simulator and classroom based course plus six months practical crane operation. The six month duration can be carried out on the employer’s equipment/location. -
Pilot Refresher Course
The 2.5-day pilot refresher course sets out to address potential deficiencies in training and to ensure updating of the knowledge & skills necessary to operate ECDIS and Radar as aids to navigation. -
Port Safety and Security Awareness
1 Day Course which aims to provide awareness training in port security as required by the International Ship & Port Facility Security(ISPS) Code. -
Container Gantry & Dockside Crane Operator Induction
The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to candidates who have little or no experience of operating cranes in a port related environment. Candidates will operate different simulated cranes types during the course. -
Port Facility Security Officers Course - IMO Model Course 3.21
3 Day Course. This intensive certified course is designed to give delegates a full understanding and competence to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).
