Capt. Bill Kavanagh

Capt. Bill Kavanagh is a Lecturer in Navigation at the National Maritime College of Ireland. He has twenty years experience at sea including eight years as Master.

He has participated in a number of EU projects, and has been involved in training in both the shipping and fishing industries in Ireland. He has an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Training and Education, a Master of Arts degree in Adult Learning and Development, and is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation.

At the NMCI, he coordinates the Third Year Nautical Science class and lectures in Meteorology, Electronic Navigation Systems, Coastal Navigation and Ship Simulation.

Dermot O'Reilly

Dermot O'Reilly is a lecturer in Marine Engineering at the National Maritime College of Ireland. He has ten years experience at sea as an engineer officer on a wide range of vessel types, is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.

He has acted as Senior Researcher on a number of Enterprise Ireland funded projects in the marine sector, run specialised courses for industry and is currently involved in a number of EU projects. At NMCI he lectures in Thermodynamics, Ship Construction, Marine Systems and Equipment and Engine Simulation.
