Course Prerequisites
- Seafarers should have completed the Medical First Aid course in accordance with Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code or hold a Medical Care certificate.
- Form of valid Government Photographic Identifcation in the form of Passport or Drivers Licence
- Delegates must have a minimum of 18 months recognised sea service evidenced by way of Discharge Book or Letter of Discharge

Full Description:
Objectives:
On meeting the minimum standard of competence in Medical Care, a student will be competent to participate effectively in co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain onboard, as outlined on Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code.
On completion of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate competence to:
• Diagnose medical problems onboard.
• Provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board.
• Participate in co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance to ships.
