Wednesday 21 April 2010

NMCI Services is the commercial division of the National Maritime College of Ireland. Our goal is to achieve and deliver an excellent quality service to our existing and future customer base. The services primary function is to promote and support all commercial activities of the college.

SEFtec are a Cork based organisation who specialise in the design, manufacture, installation, commission and service of training simulators for the maritime industry.

Together the NMCI and SEFtec have developed a package of courses specifically aimed at the offshore sector, with the long term goal of the NMCI becoming a world leader in the delivery of OPITO accredited courses.

On the 12th of April, SNO successfully ran its first OWEST (Offshore Wind Energy Safety Training) Course at NMCI. The OWEST is a one day course containing practical and theory sections including launching and entering a life raft in a designated pool.
Included are actions to be taken by persons for self protection in emergency situations, survival at sea and deployment of safety equipment.

The OWEST is the first course taking place since the incorporation of SNO on the 23rd of March and proves a very positive start to a long and successful partnership.
