CIT Director praises hard work of NMCI graduates

Thirty students were conferred with degrees at the Summer Conferring in the National Maritime College of Ireland, in Ringaskiddy. 13 students were conferred with a Bachelor of Engineering in Marine & Plant Engineering and 17 were conferred with a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science.Speaking at the conferring ceremony, the Director of Cork Institute of Technology, Dr. Brendan Murphy congratulated the graduates on their achievements: “You have, through study and application, reached a significant milestone in your life. The qualification gained by you today is a result of your own innate talent and hard work. It also comes about through Ireland’s significant investment in Higher Education, through the dedication and ability of your lecturers and through the support of your parents and families.”
Mr. Alan Deams of Clyde Marine Training presented Sub. Lt. John Minehane of the Irish Naval Service with the Clyde Marine Training perpetual trophy for Irish Cadet of the Year. Clyde Marine Training are the largest marine training agency in the UK. They act on behalf of a wide variety of shipping companies to assist in the recruitment of young people to the industry, to establishing them in various colleges and training establishments, in monitoring their progress both in college and during sea training and generally attending to their welfare.
