The annual prize giving ceremony for first year Nautical Science took place in the NMCI on Monday 11th June. Pierce Maher, a Cadet with Trinity House, was presented with the Don Curtis Award for the Best Cadet 2006 - 2007 by Mrs Phil Curtis.

 The Don Curtis Award is a perpetual award and is sponsored by the Irish Institute of Master Mariners in memory of Don Curtis who was a member of the Institute. Pierce was judged to be the Best Cadet on his overall effort during the year which included his academic work and contributions made to the class. Pierce  was also presented with a pair of marine binoculars by Ms. Catherine Giltanan of Irish Mainport Holdings.

Cadet Aisling O’Flynn was awarded the perpetual Navcom Trophy as the Best Naval Service Cadet of the first year Nautical Science class of 2006 – 2007. Aisling also received a keepsake prize of a pair of marine binoculars.
