GPS Ireland donate GPS chart plotter to NMCI Sub-Aqua Club
Thursday 17 May 2007
Head of College, Captain John Clarence recently accepted a GPS chart plotter on behalf of the NMCI Sub Aqua Club from Mr Gary Delaney of GPS Ireland. Captain Clarence thanked Mr Delaney for his donation noting that clubs, such as the sub aqua club, were an important element of college life. He said that ‘it was only natural that a sub aqua club should be formed in the NMCI considering the excellent facilities at the college for diver training’ and mentioned that membership of the club extends beyond NMCI students to CIT students from the Bishopstown campus. The GPS chart plotter will allow these students to locate the best dive sites in the locality with greater accuracy when using the dive boat.GPS Ireland is based in Crosshaven, County Cork and focuses on providing GPS Solutions and related training and consultancy for diverse GPS applications, both Land and Marine, throughout Ireland and beyond. In conjunction with CIT and the NMCI, GPS Ireland provides unique training programs in the use of GPS for applications such as Legislation Enforcement, GIS Mapping, Land and Hydrographic Surveying, Transportation and Agriculture and Forestry. Gary Delaney, a former Naval Officer, is a Director of the Company and the Principal GPS Consultant. He has advised on matters relating to GPS in the Transport, Oil and Construction industry as far afield as Bangladesh, Angola and Lebanon.
