NMCI becomes a project partner in MARTINS
Wednesday 24 January 2007
Maritime Training in Safety, “MARTINS”, is a European project focussed on reducing maritime accidents. NMCI is a partner in the project along with the following groups from across the North West European region.
- VDAB Mairitiem Opleidingscentrum Zeebrugge (Belgium)
- South Tyneside College, Newcastle (United Kingdom)
- NAUSICAA, Boulogne sur Mer (France)
- Ecole Nationale de la Marine de Nantes (France)
- ROC Zeeland (Netherlands)
All partners will work together to devise strategies which will improve the maritime safety knowledge base, maritime safety professional training and public participation in risk prevention. The focus on professional training means developing new pedagogical tools and insights, and reaching out to seafarers and non-professional users of the sea, via these professionals and other networks. The partners will take into account international regulations which will ensure that coherent training on maritime risk prevention is provided to all partner regions.
MARTINS is funded by a European Community initiative, the INTERREG IIIB North West Europe Programme which provides support to trans-national cooperation projects. These projects seek to improve territorial development and cohesion in the North West Europe area.
